A 31-year-old Denver man is facing serious charges related to alleged domestic violence against the man's former girlfriend. The woman is accusing him of holding her prisoner for two months, beating and sexually assaulting her during that time.

The victim and alleged abuser dated for about two months before breaking up in July. She let him borrow her car, which he returned on July 24. According to the woman, the accused man struck her following a verbal confrontation. She was treated at a hospital the next day for a broken nose and lacerations.

A few days later, the woman went to the police with a bruise under one eye. She said the former boyfriend had entered her home and threatened her and her family.

The woman did not contact authorities again until Sept. 28, when she returned to the hospital with several injuries, including broken ribs and a broken nose. Denver police said the woman told them the man had returned to her home on July 29 while she was asleep and took her prisoner. For nearly two months, the woman alleged, the man kept her trapped in the home, physically and sexually assaulting her several times.

The man allegedly strictly controlled her communication with the outside world. Finally, the woman told her brother about what was going on and he came to take her to the hospital. Police arrested the man shortly after. He has been charged with kidnapping, felony menacing, assault and sexual assault. With such serious charges against him, the man will likely need an experienced criminal defense attorney to represent him in court.
