Major League Baseball player Milton Bradley was arrested on Sept. 27 and accused of attempting to hit his wife with a baseball bat. It was the second arrest on suspicion of domestic violence this year for Bradley, though he was not charged in the first incident. He has a court date for later this month in connection with the more recent arrest.
Colorado Rockies fans likely have seen Bradley playing outfield for several National League teams, including the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs. He lives in the Los Angeles area. According to reports, police went to his home on Sept. 27 on suspicion of a domestic violence incident at the home.
Police said that Bradley had a verbal argument with his wife that escalated. Bradley allegedly picked up a baseball bat and began swinging it at his wife. He did not make contact and the wife left their home.
Bradley had also left the house by the time police arrived. They pulled him over and arrested him on suspicion of domestic assault. He was taken to jail, where he posted $30,000 bail and was released.
As noted above, this is the second domestic violence-related arrest for Bradley in 2011. On Jan. 18, police arrested him for allegedly making threats against his wife. Prosecutors never charged him in connection with that arrest, but had Bradley attend a hearing to figure out an "appropriate course of action" to resolve the dispute.
Bradley has played for eight different teams in 12 seasons in the major leagues.
